How to comply 3


  • Ensure you give pregnant women paid time off for ante-natal visits.

  • Carry out a risk assessment of her work in the light of her condition to ensure mother and child are protected.

  • Make sure that all workers who are on or returning from maternity leave have the right to return to their jobs.

  • If you need to dismiss a worker who is on maternity leave, make sure there is a valid reason (other than them being on leave) and seek legal advice


  • Ask ALL new workers for proof of identity regardless of their country of origin.
